My Classic started slowing down a bit so decided to wipe and reinstall the OS. Diehard BB10 users know it takes quite awhile to get things set-up, so I set aside a whole afternoon to do it. Now my Classic runs great again and I really wish I'd done it a long time ago.

Interesting! This is something I plan to do, however I still use the original Facebook app and I don't want to lose it after the reinstall

Yeah a good refresh is necessary sometimes. Makes it feel brand new again. This Passport is due for one soon.

There's an .apk file you can download somewhere which more or less functions exactly the same way as the native BB10 one - and doesn't actually Update but functions just like the regular one - but it's out there somewhere!

If you're familiar with sideloading, here's the old facebook .bar file https://www.dropbox.com/s/k9lqv8tkd6...igned.bar?dl=0

It's really too bad that BB10 users are hesitant to refresh their devices out of fear of losing an app that is no longer supported. Don't get me wrong, Facebook is a major part of digital life today. There's only one Android app that I load on my Classic - Logitech's UE Boom app for the Bluetooth speaker. Once I load it I disable the Amazon Playstore via parental controls.

Cheers for that! The reason why I want to keep it is due to the way it integrates with my contacts.

When you say reinstall the OS you mean autoloader? Or just a wipe, that should do, right?

I think a wipe should do the trick.

And, as for the worry about the facebook app, can anyone confirm that this actually does get rid of the facebook file? I don't believe that the most recent OS update did remove the facebook app but rather this was the BlackBerry World update for the app itself. That's something that we have likely to look forward to with the forthcoming and illusive 10.3.3.

Actually that's a really good point. And given that my Classic is performing so badly I might just do the factory reset regardless, and see what happens.

I didn't do a restore from a backup file. I reloaded all my apps and accounts from scratch.

    Hey All,

I started a Security Wipe via the settings, and I'm still waiting.

It's been nearly six hours and I'm only up to 96%! Is it supposed to take this long??? Any suggestions?

I haven't done this yet with my Classic but I've reached the dreaded "device memory low" message a couple of times now and there are times that I experience lag and I really don't understand why. I will be joining you guys soon and doing the same.

When I wiped my Z30 before selling it, it took a long time. I couldn't tell you for sure how long, but more than 6 hours? Most probably. I let it go all night and it was finished by the morning. The more you have on there, the longer it takes to do the wipe. Patience.

This is one reason why I am selling my Classic.
