My Passport keyboard sometimes will stop lighting up. A quick reset fixes it.

Try the bbve diagnostics and see if there is anything wrong then go from there

BBVE should already be installed on your device. From the home screen press the magnifying glass icon and see if it comes up in a search?

Do you think this maybe a hardware issue?

It's most likely the physical keyboard than a software issue, trust me I chased all the software solutions for over a week and installed and re installed everything so many times I lost count. In the end I gave up because it was cheaper to buy a new used one than pay 100 for the repair. Unless you do it yourself.

Good luck and if you find a solution please post it

Many thanks for your reply, looks like I will have to live with it until my business account comes up for renewal. My only fear is that EE in the UK will not have any Classics left in stock by then (March '17)!

What happens when you try to download Bbve? Here's the link Check out BlackBerry Virtual Expert in BlackBerry World! You can find it at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/27226887 if you are able to download it, it should tell you if it's a hardware issue (hopefully?).

I had an issue with my keyboard not lighting up. In my case it was the light sensor that was not working properly. Easy way to see that is if the screen auto dimms and brightens. For me the light sensor plug had come lose and I only needed to re attach it. I had to open up the phone to do it but it wasn't that hard to do.
