Hi everyone. I am new on this forum, looking for some advice.

I wanted to give Blackberry a shot for some time now, and with the release of the Q20, it seems like a good time to pounce. My current android phone is faulty and I need a replacement sooner rather than later. The problem is that since I never used a BB OS before, it may require some adjustment time. This is why I was thinking to buy a Z10 just to avoid feeling like a Neaderthal when I will have the Classic in November.

So, is it worth the investment or should I just wait? Used Z10s go for about 80-100 pounds.

Yes why not, you'll have a chance to get used to BB10, and will have a backup device should you need it. If you can afford it, I would.

    Hi Jack,
    First off, welcome to CrackBerry!
Please update your profile to include device, carrier, and location. Makes it easier for others to help you.

I agree, if you can afford the extra 80-100, I'd say go for it.
There are four variants of Z10, called. STL100-1, -2, -3, and -4. STL100-1 is non-LTE and for developing markets. You'll have to check which of STL100-2/3/4 is the right model for your carrier.

Name your carrier and someone can probably help you with that.

Sure! You can snag a used Z10 or Q10 in very good condition off eBay for like $150..... totally worth it!

Then go look up 'BlackBerry gestures 101' on youtube.

I would read and look at videos about BB 10 and wait for the Q20... it's gonna be a little different from the z10... but you're gonna love it !

I'm doing the same thing...been using the Z10 since summer. Had BlackBerry Bold before then and looking forward to the similar layout with advanced operating system. Using this Z10 in interim and so impressed. The 10.3 OS I loaded from a leak only makes it better. So agree...get a Z10...you'll be impressed and in some ways an easier transition from an Android since ucb screen. And go the EBAY route as many good deals on used ones there. Good luck.

I had a similar dilemma, where I wanted the Q10 badly but decided to get the Z10 while I waited.

I am SO glad I did.

The Z10 is a nice phone. It gets you used to BlackBerry 10 on a big screen, so when you're doing it on a smaller screen, you'll already know how to do everything.

The screen is really nice and bright, the virtual keyboard is way better than an Android's.

You should get a Z10 now (or even a Z30 if you can), because the Classic seems to be a little ways off.

I had that exact dilemma my 9900 microphone quit on me and I need a replacement phone so I picked up a z10 cheep and I must say it's a super nice phone. I would highly recommend it. Worst case scenario u could have a solid backup. I've always been a qwerty guy since my first curve but the flick to type on this z10 is really neat. I've only had this phone a few days but so far I like it. Bb10 is really nice

I would go for a Q10 myself. That way you can get used to th FKB. I've used VKB for last 4 years and picked up my 9650 the other day to get a sense of typing on a FKB again because I'm looking to get the Classic when it's released, and because of the touch keyboard, I've found myself just touching the keys instead of actually pressing them. So if you're looking to get the Classic I would say, if anything, get a Q10 to get used to the OS and keyboard. I'm looking to get a Q10 for that reason.

If you're interested in the Classic and have the cash to get a device now and the Classic when it releases, I would definitely recommend getting the Q10. The benefits right now is that it's a lot cheaper and if you search hard enough you can find it for the same price as a Z10. Then you get the physical keyboard as well, which will give you an idea of how the classic will be.

Q10 has a 3.1 inch screen and the Classic has a 3.5 inch screen, so it will be slightly bigger. But still, get your practice in!
