As of right now, yes it can if that's what you're using it for.
when will it no longer be able too. i thought as long as your only doing very basic functions, that it will work
my idea was to use a bb for work and every day. and use my Android phone for apps
There's nothing stopping you from doing just that, there isn't any indication of those features ceasing to function.

Those features should work without issue until your email provider makes a change to something on there end. That could break things past what users can fix. You should continue just as you are doing until that time if you wish.
Yes there are a number of new security standard going into effect... but I think most email service providers will allow the older standards for years to come. Companies on the other hand, might require the use of some of those higher security standards, which HUB on BB10 won't support.
If someone just has personal accounts they might be fine for a long time. A work account could stop working at any time.
I say use it till it can't be used, if it meets your needs.
I just lost my email access the beginning of this month. My provider upgraded to TLS 1.2. They have no idea why my Q10 won't connect. They had several other support tickets but since the user base is so low and no updates since 10.3.3, I suspect my Q10 is getting close to EOL as a daily driver. I now use my iPhone for that email account.

While I don't prefer BB10 anymore, I agree wholeheartedly that everyone has the freedom to choose and discuss what they prefer.
