Bottom portion of the phone not showing signs of longevity. This is just from storage in my pockets alongside my iPhone 5s. Never been dropped or share the same pocket as my keys. Still love the phone regardless. Classic build quality-imageuploadedbycb-forums1427998593.652750.jpg

The bottom portion is painted plastic. When I bought this phone 2 months back I thought the entire frame was stainless steel. As time passed and the device got used I noticed paint chipping out around the corners(though negligible now). I wonder why they kept the bottom portion plastic? I intend to keep this device for a longer span of time and I'm sure that entire paint thing is gonna come off eventually.
    why BlackBerry why??

The majority of us will put a case on our phones. Plus, who really cares? You're using the phone it's going to get knicked up here and there. I don't have a single flawless electronic device that I use frequently. When you use things, they wear. Meh.

Yup its plastic. I got a small scratch on it. No big deal. Get a case if you need.

When you pay 700$ for a phone you expect a minimum built quality.

One of the advantages I've always felt BlackBerry had was that the user never was forced to buy a case, like with other phones. I've had Bolds, Torches, and now a Passport, and have never felt the need to have a case. I've carried my Passport in my pocket every day for 6 months and not a single blemish on it. My iPhone 5 edges scratched on day 1 just from being in my pocket. Sad to see the Classic following that route.

Some people hate cases. If you have to put a case to prevent paint from pealing from your phone it's disappointing, especially after only a couple of months.

Join the club OP! I have a couple of small chips around the USB port, as well as a minor one on the top right corner. Not happy. I've bought a leather flip case since, but that doesn't repair the damage already done

All the more reason why this phone should have been fully blacked-out in color from the start.

They are ALL like that... There isn't a single BB device that is all metal all the way around. I think part of the reason for that has to do with the antenna.

I had a Bold 9000, 9900, Q10, and now Classic. Sorry, but the bottom of the 9900 was plastic as well... If I still have the photos I took of the paint coming off the bottom, I'll post it, but if I still have them they are on my home PC. I took photos of it to show on the ebay listing I made, I disclose all defects when I'm selling things.

Better stay away from BB then, so far every one I've had was plastic on the bottom. 9000, 9900, Q10, now Classic. All plastic bottoms.

Ok, I'll look to see if I still have the photos I took for my ebay ad when I was selling my 9900 of the paint coming off the bottom panel of the 9900. I look forward to posting them here now. :-)

Definitely man, hopefully I didn't delete them because I sold that years ago, but it should still be there. I tend to save almost everything so chances are good.
