Surely you're not suggesting that I was comparing the Passport to the Classic? My only point was that new Classic owners should reserve judgement on their battery life for at least a week.

All my apps are closed...

My bad, I shouldn't have used the word 'apps'. Processes is the more appropriate term, I believe.
Processes are functions commanded by programs and settings on the phone that require sending and receiving data. These can be on the phone itself through the processor, or Over-The-Air using radio as well as processor power. These occur all the time, even with all your apps closed. How these are behaving is going to have the biggest impact on your phone's battery life when it is in standby mode. This is why some operating system versions can be battery hogs, and the next release can more than double battery life.
Obviously, you have some control over some of these processes by deciding what apps you choose to install, or not install.
And of course, a new operating system has a lot of new things to get sorted out. Usually this is completed within a few days, but circumstances can lead to this being delayed, i.e. areas of poor reception around where you work or live that interrupt processes, location services picking up on certain patterns for programs like Foursquare, etc. This is why, from experience with new phones and leaked OS's, we recommend waiting a week before coming to a conclusion about your battery life.

Thank you for all the information. I wiped the device and reloaded everything. Let's see what happens and I'll report back later. I appreciate all the advice.
The BlackBerry Classic is a great phone. I am loving it!!!!

Well I think I'm convinced. I'll stick with my Z30!
I too used to use the Bold 9700 as my daily driver. That phone had incredible battery life: 2 days easily.

That looks REALLY good, you would be able to get ~24hours with that.
Can you tell me your status on things (like GPS, WiFi, accelerometer monitoring for muting a ring, etc)
Well I remember on my Z10 I would have to do things like turning off GPS, dimming screen to 50%, carrying a bundle pack, etc. With the Classic I no longer do any of that. GPS stays on, Wi-fi and bluetooth stays on, and battery saver at 25%. I can post pics of cpu usage if you'd like or anything else. I hope I answered your question accurately. Let me know if there was anything else you wanted to know.
Oh and for advanced interactions I have lift to wake, flip to save power, and hold to stay awake enabled. I don't know how much of a difference it makes but I find them useful. My phone stays on vibrate/silent at work so I don't need to use the flip to mute option.

I noticed BlackBerry Travel is taking up a lot of battery...I have it closed. Any suggestion on what to do?
Posted via CB10
Uninstall/reinstall? Or disable some of the settings within the app, like email scanning.

Both phones should do this Classic or Passport... but wait a week while the phone settles in before commenting!!!!

I'm quite pleased. Coming from a Z10 it isn't that hard to impress though. Not really heavy usage today though. Just moderate. Couple of phone calls. Facebook chat. Instagram and facebook browse. Some bbm chat. Few emails.

These are both my worst so far.

Over 12 hours, with very heavy browser usage, is your worst so far? That's excellent news.
Web browsing is usually the most battery-intensive task we ask of our phones.

I'm really close to buying the classic the only thing that is worrying me is battery can someone help me is it better than q10 Is it as going to drain like the 9900. Please help

Battery is a complete joke. I hardly get a day with mine and I think my Q10 actually lasted longer.

Then there is something wrong with yours...

Yup, not normal. Huge drain somewhere or bad battery.
I wanted to report back my battery issues seem to have worked it's self out. I wiped the device, played with some of the app permissions, let it drain and recharged the battery and it seems great.

Here's my Xmas-eve diagram. Some texting, a bit of web-browsing during the day, making pictures and a call. Typically holiday usage ;-)
.....and still like 50% left!

The batteries in these devices are phenomenal.
I charge my phone every night and the phone is at 50%

If people are complaining about their device, send it back!!!
Mine, and many others last all day with much of the battery left over for evening communication.
