Now that we're about 3 weeks away from the launch of the Classic, I would have to imagine that they are currently in production with the target date of Dec 17 for the phone to be on sale/shipped. I have been patiently waiting to find out the most important unknown/unconfirmed aspect of the phone for me - the battery size. With various battery sizes in the test phones, it's unclear whether the 2515 mAh battery will be the final battery size. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be bigger, given that I'm a very heavy business user AND I happen to live in a low signal area. I'm not counting on any battery cases being available for the phone at launch or early on so if the battery isn't bigger than 2515 then I might not be able to consider the Classic as much as I want it...

Does anyone have any idea what the final battery size will be? Or perhaps if you're not allowed to tell us then maybe you can hint at whether we'll be "pleasantly surprised" by the final size Anything you can do to shed some light would be a huge help to me and to many others here I'm sure and we would sincerely appreciate it!!

    Thanks in-advance,
    Jeremy

Found some (accidentally released) certifications saying 2515 mAh.

Very interesting - thanks VERY much for your quick reply and information.

I just found something interesting as well. It looks like Blackberry has released "official" specs of the standby and talk times. I believe they can be found somewhere on the Blackberry site but here's where I found them as screenshots: ?????????? ?????????? ????? ?????? ?? ??????? BlackBerry Classic | ???????? ??????? BlackBerry (you'll need to translate this page into English).

Interestingly, the Classic standby time is longer than the Passport standby time but the talk time is significantly longer on the Passport. Here's a quick calculation (this clearly isn't a perfect comparison, as the processors between the phones are different):

Classic talk time = 18 Hours
Passport Talk Time = 24 Hours

Classic Talk Time = 75% of Passport Talk Time

Passport battery = 3450 mAH - Classic Battery = 2515 mAH (possibly) or 73% of Passport battery.

For the record, 75% of the Passport battery = 2587 mAH so I'm guessing 2515 is about right. But who knows - maybe the processor difference will equate to 2600-2800 mAh battery for the Classic. If the specs in the link are correct then I am guessing the absolute largest battery we'll see on the Classic is around 2800 mAh but, at this point, 2515 mAh is looking most likely when considering these numbers + what Thurask posted above.

Does anyone else have any additional thoughts/insight?

Don't have the screencap of the erroneous certification on this computer, but I did find a Chinese site selling it: ȫ*װBLACKBERRY ݮBPCLS00001Bֻ 2515mAh-Ա

For people paranoid of the battery wearing out, 25 RMB (~$4.07) is a steal.

    I know

I meant it could change, though that doesn't seem to be the case for battery capacity or any of the other rumored specs.

I think anything just over 2000 mAh for the Classic should be fine. If this was produced with the first BB10 build, no. 10.3.1 will better utilize the operating system that will result in better battery management.

Someone posted a link to an Amazon UK Classic Pre-Order on another thread. In that link there's a number of highlights listed about the Classic and they appear to be part of Blackberry's collateral. There is specific mention about a 2515 mAh battery. So, all of the evidence so far, including that, points to 2515 mAh. At this point I'm 99%+ convinced that the final size, barring some unexpected surprise announcement on Dec 17.

I think we should all assume that the final battery will be 2515 mAh, which is a shame but at least it's bigger than the Q10 battery!

On the other hand: the official vodafone pre-order site here at Germany lists every little spec instead of battery size.

Maybe it just hasn't been finalized.... the battery is something you can easily switch during or even after production!

So if the battery is 2515 mAh, what does that translate to for actual battery life?
