Am just curious if there has been any mention of bringing back charging contacts and docks for the Q20.

I don't think anything along those lines has been announced.

One word to BB in regards to putting the charging contacts on the Q20:

    Do it.

That is right up there on the (very) short list of things I don't like about my Q10 - having to use an aftermarket dock on my headboard where the phone sits horizontally as it charges.

Oh cool. Don't know much about Qi.
What are the advantages of Qi over charging contacts?
Will Qi make for better bedside charging stands?

    Just put it in there.

Make the real Blackberry stand out.
I dont want just another iPhone/Samsung mimicking device.

Blackberry should add all their old strengths which made it stand out from other sheeps.

I always loved the charging contacts and the drop-in desktop cradle. So convenient! The cradle holds the BlackBerry upright so you can easily see new messages, plus when you leave you simply snatch the BlackBerry up and go. No cable to plug in or unplug - just grab & go. Now if they could meek those contacts capable of transferring data as well as charging ...

    Yes. I agree.

And also, microusb port on the bottom does not equal charging contacts.

Like the poster above said. You can place and grab your BlackBerry so easily with the cradles with charging contacts. It's just not the same at all with cradles with usb stems.

I really personally value and enjoy how nifty charging contacts are.

I would probably destroy a micro USB port in a month with the amount of times I stab my 9670 in its dock.

Someone said charging with charging contacts reduces the life of the battery, but I would MUCH prefer replacing the battery over replacing the whole phone when the micro USB becomes unusable.

They should add the charging contacts and also seperate the hdmi out and charging port. What a nightmare trying to charge phone in dark.

Wireless charging is clearly better. That's what q20 should have.

+1. My bezel has already been scratched up from the first week I had my Q10. I freaked out when I saw it and just got a case to prevent further scratching. Back to the topic...it would be awesome if the Q20 had charging contacts!

OMD! That'd be great, and sooo much better than fussing with the USB port all the time. Problem is then we'd be in the Apple boat and need special chargers...unless we could convince EVERYONE ELSE to adopt it, which wouldn't be a bad thing to happen.

It could have USB + wireless.

I'm not a fan of USB only charging for fear of the wear/tear all that connect-disconnect action might do to the USB contacts.

In a cradle, the phone stands upright so you can see the time and type of notifications at a glance.

With a wireless charging mat, the phone lays there like a discarded object.

Are you trying to say that wireless charging can't be implemented with the phone in a vertical or inclined position?

Picture a typical BlackBerry pod charging stand but now add a slab up the back... more support for the phone and wireless charging. Bam!
