My Verizon generic charger that worked with my Q10 will not work with the Classic. I can plug it in to the Q10 and get lightning but Classic does not.

Is there something proprietary now where I need to get a BlackBerry branded car charger?

I bought the charger in the store back when I either got the Q10 or even maybe the old Droid Maxx. It is a Verizon branded charger that plugs into the 12V.

Well its time to get a new vehicle maybe? You need a better battery and car to take full advantage of the Classic potential. Also....you bought a Verizon charger -_- they embed chips inside so the first device you ever connect it to is locked thus changing devices requires you buy a new charger - this is how they make their revenue

So funny, I almost shat myself. But seriously.....

OP, the charger you have is an underpowered pos. Get yourself a new 2amp car charger. I just got one from Amazon for $9 (Belkin).

Wow, just wow. I made the mistake of buying a charger from Verizon when I got my Tour 9630 a number of years ago. I certainly overpaid for it, but it did NOT lock itself to a particular phone.

Like the guy above said, buy a 1.8 or 2.0 amp charger from shopcrackberry or a similar reputable retailer and you'll be fine.

Purchased this a few months back:

Works great and charges very quick compared to any other car chargers I have used.

I use one that came with my Zagg iPad case that is for charging the keyboard.

When I initially plug my Classic in, it does not show that it is charging, but if I lock the screen, then swipe up, I get the charge indicator and it is charging. Weird.
