ah, make sens
Its not FedEx.. the problem is shop blackberry put the wrong packing slip in the box which said I paid zero tax (which was not the case). Customs took the form that shop BlackBerry included and assessed me tax as the slip incorrectly said zero. It has nothing to do with FedEx since the paper work / charge came from customs on a slip that shop BlackBerry had improperly filled out.
I'm going to have to get a refund from the CRA now and that is a long process.
at least you will receive it that refund
I bought my Classic from Blackberry Store, and I asked them outright when ordering if there would be customs or brokerage fees and they said no. I didn't have to pay any fees when FedEx delivered it. Today I am waiting for a case I ordered from them. I'll let you know if I pay any duty or brokerage. The case just arrived via FedEx from the Blackberry Store. No customs fees charged and it was sent from Plainfield, In to Vancouver, BC.
Damn. I wasn't charged any custom fees or taxes on my passport. Just shipping. Mine came from Indiana. That was my biggest fear
I ordered a Passport on release day. No duties
Ordered 2 Classics via preorder. No duties.

I have ordered acouple of passports and a Z30 - in each case I was only charged the GST (since there is no sales tax in Alberta). In the OP's case, he should be charged HST (the unified GST and sales tax). Even if one ignores the fact that the product was ordered from a Canadian website, there should be no duties since the handsets are manufactured in Mexico.
The OP should take this issue up with FedEx since it appears to be their broker's fault. I haven't had this problem with FedEx, but I did run across a problem with FedEx's broker missing the "country of origin - USA" with another order and I was refunded the difference.
Mine was the same in that it was shipped from the US to Canada and I wasn't charged HST or duty on delivery.
I think the problem is ultimately that Shop BlackBerry put the wrong slip in the package that said I paid no sales tax at all (when I did) and customs charged me HST since the information they had said I hadn't paid it yet. Ultimately I think it's shop BlackBerrys fault and they refused to help correct it. Now it'll take a few months to get it back from the CRA.

No, it's not luck - I've ordered and received 4 different orders from Shop Blackberry Canadian site in the last 4 weeks and they were all shipped from the US to my door and I didn't have to pay one cent in duties or taxes.
I ordered a Q10 back in nov from shopBB, it came with no extra charges. shipped from Indiana.
Why would you pay the same taxes twice??????
I ordered and just paid one time HST. Get your money back! Unless you messed up.
Never had a problem and it is always shipped from the US to Canada. Sounds like human error not a systemic issue. No reason to blame the entire company but I suppose using a sledgehammer to kill a gnat is par for the course on the Internet.

Ordered a white Z30 last April paid taxes and shipping directly to shopblackberry. FedEx did not charge me any other fees. Check with them but the Z30 is made in Mexico no way you should pay import taxes on electronics anyway. Shopblackberry or FedEx made a mistake for sure. Too bad we Canadian cannot buy a BlackBerry on Amazon with free shipping.

I wouldn't hastily start pointing fingers
However, if you're the first one to have this problem, something seems fishy
Please double check whether you did indeed from CA site and not COM
I'm not saying it couldn't be a fault on their end, but it seems odd why you would be the first
Canadian cannot buy from .com it will not let accept the order cause of the shipping address.. I know I tried
I stand corrected then. I apologize for that
I guess OP is just really unlucky. I would contact BB and have them solve it
The Classic is made in China so yes, duty and taxes can be collected but since he's buying from a Canadian site he shouldn't have been charged because the duties and taxes are probably already built into the Canadian price. As stated in my earlier post, so far I haven't had any problems with the last 4 units that I purchased from Shop Blackberry. Knock on wood.
bro, stop trolling, many people already told you that was a fedex issue or a human error,
I personally gonna put my money and said that was a human screw.
Got my Q5 from the USA & ordered from ShopBlackBerry in November. No duties, etc. Just cost of device, shipping + HST.
No idea why yours was an issue..

It wasn't FedEx and I'm not trolling...just seeing if others had issues. I called the CRA and they indicated customs were levied because BlackBerry didn't indicate I already paid provincial HST. I can get a refund but it's a pain.
Looks like it's isolated to me, which is a good thing.

My husband has ordered 2 z10s, z30 and passport and we never had customs charges.
Are you fabricating a story?

So, based on the packet label, Shop BlackBerry collected a fee they shouldn't have.
I'd *guess* that if you can provide the packet label (with the "no sales tax paid") + Your Shop BlackBerry invoice + Customs tax ticket, then they should refund.
but it might be simplier to do the same with customs ...
(oh, I didn't suggest you try both at the same time ;))
You shouldn't be charged duty on the product as it was from the "Canadian" site. It's like when you buy stuff from newegg.ca or TD 90% of their stuff ship from the US and there's duty on it. They screwed it up on their end
