I see that Protect will be adding an additional feature (rolling out for 10.3.2) that after a device wipe, the device will prompt you to sign in with the same BlackBerry ID that was previously associated with the device. If this isn't provided the device will be come useless.
I'm liking this addition. Just need them to restore backup and I'll be happy.
    What do you think?

Protect recently helped me recover my phone so I'm definitely a fan. Wrote the article here if you're interested http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=1007622

I'm curious tho, what if you want to sell the phone. Do you just disable protect before formatting phone?

You're right on: First disable Protect (It is On by default) and then Security Wipe your phone.

And that's what people will not realise so this new feature will cause huge problems on the second hand market.

If I remember correctly this is how apple does it now with ios8 too.. I don't mind having to disable it first. As long as the option is still there to sell it, now with this new setup it's virtually pointless to even bother trying to steal somebodies BlackBerry

As long as the option is there to disable then wipe, it shouldn't be a problem. They just have to publicise this change and judging by how they are with the 10.3.2 beta, it seems to show that they are aware that this needs to be done.
    Benefits outweigh IMO.
