    It was an older BBOS phone, he never made the jump to BB10. But... it was a heavily modified phone - just look like a BlackBerry. By the time the Classic had come out, even he had moved on.

    No. He was using a BlackBerry long after the Classic came out. (This is what I know)
    He moved on only during the last very few months of his term.

    BBOS i believe. non of the Chen-berry for sure. those are not your daily drive handset, you can't hack the phone and get GPS coordinate for his location for sure. (not like some media guru broad cast their where about on twitter to attract the robbers and theives).

    I saw a TV special about it once, It was a bold I think but the NSA opened them up and replaced / modified the hardware. They didn't specify to what details. I got the impression it was blackberry shell with specialized functionality. Obama commented that the much of the standard smart phone functionality was removed or modified for security reasons.
