I have a blackberry Classic on Wind Mobile. I am from Edmonton (south), Alberta.

I live in a basement (BabyRuth not needed).

My issue is my signal; or lack there of. I get one bar sometimes - most of the time none/wind AWAY.

I have excellent Wi-Fi available and works very well with my device. I would like to avoid spending hundreds on a "booster/repeater", if possible. I don't need 5 bars - but 100% 1-2 bars would be my goal. Opening windows, doors, and wearing a tinfoil hat is not an option.

Will you help me? Suggest ideas? Perform experiments ?

    Thank you!!!!!!!

Wind Mobile has a UMTS network on 1700 MHz, which is a great frequency for speeds, but poor for penetration/carry. Rogers, Bell and Telus have UMTS 850 and 1900 MHz networks. 1900 would be worse than 1700, but 850 should be great. Rogers and Bell also have low frequency LTE networks now, on 700 MHz.

OP, you don't say much about how WIND's coverage outside your home is, so I'll assume it's good enough--it's just the basement you're having a problem in. Also assuming you have WiFi, that should take care of your data needs. Do you have a landline? If so, how about setting up conditional call forwarding with WIND? 4 calls and send call to landline...something like that?

I'm with Wind in Toronto, their signal is just weak, there isn't anything you can do.

I actually have decent reception in my basement, but I actually live very close to one of their towers.
