    Hi Guys,

Both devices just became available here in Colombia. I was told that the Blackberry Classic only supported 3G Networks and was not capable of 4G/LTE because of an AWS issue? I am unsure of what AWS is. But, the Passport is fine for 4G LTE.

Can anyone that knows a thing or two about phones shine some light on this?

If it is important, I am on the Tigo Network here in Medellin.

Wikipedia says Tigo uses Band 4 and Band 7 for LTE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...works#Americas

The SQC100-4 (North America outside of the USA) should have those bands available. It also has the UMTS Band IV (1700 MHz), which is the AWS band.

Double check your carrier's frequencies (if you can get them) and compare them to what's listed here: https://ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/vi...?modelid=26628

From what I can tell of the Tigo network, they're using 2100MHz/1700MHz AWS bands for LTE there and the AWS is listed as being supported but I'm not sure the specifics on Tigo.

I know nothing other than what I read here: Advanced Wireless Services - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

further, http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...l#post11253021 view post #72 saying the 1700 would be missing on the ATT devices, but I don't know anything more...

I don't have the phone. I went to purchase today and noticed the price was lower than expected, I asked why and they said because it doesn't work on 4G/LTE and cited the AWS as the issue.

All of that, and what is in this forum is over my head. I took it as a no from them, Post #2 gave me hope, Post #5 left me wondering more.
