BlackBerry classic - broken loudspeaker
Hey guys,
Has anyone had their speaker stop working? I dropped my Classic (sorry!!) a couple of days back, and the impact was on the top left corner near the headphone jack. It was only from about 3feet high but onto the concrete sidewalk... I noticed the casing popped open slightly, but it easily clicked back together. There's no damage to the screen or anything, but my speaker has stopped working entirely. That means no music or audio from videos, and most irritatingly, no ringtones/alerts or alarm sounds!!
I'm wondering if anyone has had speaker issues? The timing of the speaker issue vs. the drop is too close to be a coincidence. If anyone has dealt with this, is it usually an easy fix if I were to open this thing up myself (ie. A cable that can pop loose) or is everything soldered together? I'm hesitant to send it away to BlackBerry for repairs as it sounds like a long process, and I don't have a spare phone anymore (and don't really know how well the ancient Android loaner from my carrier would do as a replacement. I'm also concerned that if BlackBerry charges me for the repair, it'll be substantially more expensive than taking it to a local phone repair shop.
Thanks in advance!
