I believe it will last 500+ charging cycles.

Someone can ask, what do you mean, by 500+ cycles? For one person charging from 50 to 100% will be one cycle, and for other from 10 to 100% will be too one cycle.

The worst thing you can do for your battery is short charging. For exmple when you connect your device to computer just to transfer couple of files, then you're charging as a side effect. A minute later you unplug the cable and your battery is closer to death. Better is USB data-only cable without power wires.

I think the same way like you. I prefer charging from about 10% to 100%. But I have Bold 9900, so I don't care to much about it, because i can buy new baterry and raplace it without any problems. But in Classic, it is more difficult - you need special tools... :/

I always charge to 100 and then drop down to 1 percent and charge it again. I think it should last for 3 years something for a average person. 500 cycles is something hard to understand

I thought the Battery University determined that short charges are fine for Lithium Ion batteries?

This is how cycles work - every portion of charge, whether it be 25 % four times or 50% twice or 10% ten times equals 1 cycle - which is 100% of the battery. Fifty 2% charges is the same 1 cycle as one 75% charge and then one 25% charge. Small charges do not degrade the battery any more than any other duration of charge.

The only enemy of Lithium-ion or Lithium-polymer are heat and full discharges to zero.

This is the definitive explanation of charge cycles.
