Thinking of getting the Classic. One of the biggest requirements is a good DAC on the device. I believe the Z10 and Priv have a Wolfson DAC. Does anyone know the sound output on the device when connected to headphones? Is it clear or does it leave a lot to be desired?

I've compared the Classic to Z30, Passport, Q5 and Q10 - in terms of sound quality they are pretty much identical; good, but not quite as loud as they could be.

Don't believe any current BB phone has a Wolfson DAC, the last BB device that is known to have Wolfson was non-LTE Z10 STL100-1 which used the TI SOC and before that the Playbook. The Z10 LTE versions uses the Qualcomm WCD9310. The PRIV has a Qualcomm DSP as do most phones that use Qualcomm SOCs.

I didn't find any info on the Classic, but take a look at this:

    Z10 STL 100-1 (TI 4470) - Wolfson WM 8915
    Z10 STL 100-2/3/4 (MSM 8960) - Qualcomm WCD 9310
    Passport SQW 100-1/100-4 (Snapdragon 801) - Qualcomm WCD 9320

By extension, both the Z30 and the Classic must be paired with the Qualcomm WCD 9310, as they have the same Snapdragon processor and I doubt that BlackBerry fitted those with other audio chips. I may be mistaken, but there was nothing I could find that would say the contrary.
