My Classic is an unlocked SQC-100-4 model that does not have band 12. I have always been under the impression that the various bands are based on the hardware of the phone and are not software related. However, I have been reading on some other forums that there are some phones that could be updated via software. I'm assuming that this is just talk from folks who really don't know. Can any band/hardware guru's out there explain or confirm that bands are hardware related or can be updated via software.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm neither but from what I understand, if the hardware doesn't support the band, it's no game.

The Q10 doesn't have different radio files for each model either, what enforces what I just said.

Passports though, seem to be band-agnostic, capable of working anywhere in the world (there is only one model).

The Q10 was made before T-Mobiles Band 12 LTE ever came out, it is not in the phone hardware wise so it will not be as simple as a software update.
