Ok, so right now I have the Curve 3G and I was thinking of upgrading to either the 9700 or 9780. I can get the 9700 used for about 200-250 and I can get the 9780 used for about 250-380. I am tight for money as I am a high school student without a job and this is all money I work VERY hard to earn. All I want out of the phone is to use OS 6 and run Facebook, Twitter, and occasional web browsing. So i don't think i need the memory that much.

The Curve 3G i have right now is almost perfect except for the uncomfortable keyboard, and low res screen.

So which should I get ??

And please don't suggest that I get the 9900 because I have no interest in that phone. Its waay too expensive for me right now. :/

    Thanks.

Get the 9780, it will allow you to run OS 6 and the webkit browser, but without getting those page too large errors, or constantly running out of memory.

Save yourself the headache and get the 9780 which has double the memory and a 5 MP camera.

But I have to comment on you said about the Curve's keyboard, in my opinion, I found the Curve Keyboard to be much better than the Bold because the buttons are not stuck next to each other, they are actually isolated on their own which makes it very easy to type fast with no mistakes. The crappy screen is what always got me though, and no camera LOL

Anyway, youll be happy with the 9780 just sold mine for $300 because it was in mind condition and still under warranty. You can easily get it cheaper

Before you get a used 9780, test it in your hand, deal with the seller in person over craigslist or kijiji. Go to the carrier with them so they can't lie to you about it being stolen or not. That way, the carrier can tell if it's not marked as lost or stolen.

If you just want to stick it out, stick with the curve 3G and wait until more than enough is saved up, then get the 9780. The curve has a camera, just no flash. It has the same amount of memory as the 9700 and can run OS 6. You'll have to shrink the OS in order to get the most application memory for the browser and everything else. Just my two cents. Save the money dude. Even if the resolution of the screen is low, it's worth it. You've got a great device

I think the choice between 9780 and 9700 depends on what kind of user you are...

I have stock OS 6 loaded on my 9700 but I use Opera mini 6.1 as my browser. It works great and I don't get the 'page too large' errors.

The 9900 is only about 20% more than the 9780, I realize you don't want us to mention it but freak man, that's not a big price difference for twice the processor power, a way better screen, a touchscreen, and all the other new crap the 9900 has.

@SCrid2000 - I cant get the 9900 because im buying off kijiji and i dont have a lot of money (only about 300ish). And to buy the 9900 on kijiji is like 600ish. So thats not really an option. -.-

If I have to make the decision, no doubt I will get 9780 for sure. I am a satisfied 9700 user. But it will make me happier if I could get 9780. 9780 is a 'better 9700'.

Well the decision is mostly based on the money i get within the next week caus 9700s are only around 200 and 9780s are usually around 300-350 and idk if they are worth the extra 100-150.

I think the only difference between the 9700 and the 9780 is 256mb of memory and 1.8mp in the camera. I wouldn't get a 9780 over a 9700 myself.

If you want to run BB OS 6, the extra 256mb is a huge difference.

The 9700 has the versatility of being able to use OS 5 or OS 6.

Plus, if you shrink the OS, you can use OS 6 on the 9700 just fine.

They both have the same processor which means same speed. I wouldn't waste my money. Save it to get something which really feels like an upgrade.

I guess that's probably true, I only have 230mb free of the 512 my 9650 has, so I'd have to delete some apps if I had a 9700.

u was extremely satisfied with my 9700 ( got it on release day) and didnt see a need to get a 9780. I now have a 9900, but if it had not been released, I would still be using my 9700 and content with that.,

You HAVE to shrink OS 6 to use it successfully on the 9700. It still runs better on the 9780.

OTOH if OS 5 is your thing, definitely stick with the 9700.

I'm running OS 6 on my curve 3g right now and it seems to run alright and its the same insides on the 9700. Why and more importantly, HOW would i shrink the os?

You download a utility like BB Boss that deletes OS components on your BB.

I've never used a 9780, but apparently it deals with OS6 a little better. The 9700 works pretty well but the "page too large to load errors" does get annoying. If it were me and I could spare the $, I would probably go for the 9780, assuming it really does run OS6 better.

    Hope this helps,

I have a 9700 on AT&T with the official AT&T and a 9780 on T-Mobile. Even after shrinking BB OS 6 on the 9700, the 9780 runs OS 6 better. Before shrinking, OS on the 9700 was unusable.
