Does anyone know if the Onyx with have UMA on Rogers? I really like this feature and may get the Curve 8900 if the Onyx is not going to have it.

As a side note, I noticed Rogers lowered their prices on the Bold and 8900 today - maybe making some room for new devices???

The Onyx will most likely NOT have UMA because, and RIM has stated this themselves, the 3G radio in GSM 3G BlackBerry's causes a conflict with UMA and will not work.

That's why all UMA devices currently run on EDGE - and that's why the Bold is not UMA equipped.

RIM also said the BlackBerry Storm1 is the most revolutionary phone with touchscreen/clicking feel and that it would be a big hit... Don't believe what they say because it barely has anything to do with conflict. UMA is not a chip, it's just software.

I guess the answer sounds like it will not come with UMA support.

Everybody is talking about problems handing off the calls from the 3G network over to UMA...well since there doesn't seem to be many problems handing off from 3G to EDGE and no problems handing off from EDGE to UMA (and vice versa), why not just have the call handed off from 3G to EDGE, and then from EDGE to UMA (and vice versa)? It would be a slightly longer process but wouldn't it work?

or just have UMA disabled when you are using 3G, and be sure to use EDGE when you are wanting to utilize UMA

Or not have a handoff occur (you only need to handoff if the call is already started) Turn off the 3G radio if you have a WiFI conection.

I'm sure RIM would do it if they could.
