My first blackberry has os4.2, and what I have noticed with every new os, the reboot time takes longer and longer.

    4.2 - approx 2-3 minutes
    4.5 - approx 3-4 minutes
    5.0 - approx 5-6 minutes
    6.0 - approx 7-8 minutes

Is this becoming the norm with rim? at one point someone has to yell wtf already. You can boot android/ios even windows 7 pc in less than a minute, and these are much more complex and robust systems.

All of the new devices boot quicker than previous ones. Even the 9360.

5.0 had to be the worst. My Tour is awful and it likes to reboot on its own a lot more.

It's been my experience that as hardware improves, so does the boot time. The one exception is my Tour which takes about 15 minutes to turn on, and if it's not plugged in, will restart halfway through the process.

i just don't understand why its soo slow, there is not platform in mobile smartphone history that takes this long to reboot. Its a downright embarrassment.

What could be going on, is it soft loading every application that is installed?

    My brother's 8330 boots in 1minute 30 seconds. My 9650 takes... 13 minute. haha.

From the videos it looked pretty speedy.

I know. The whole battery pull thing is embarrassing too. QNX will fix that.

I'm pretty sure somethings just wrong with your phone OP because on my old 9700, OS 6 was A LOT faster in reboot time compared to OS 5. I haven't heard of anyone at all saying that OS 6 takes longer than OS 5 to reboot, except for you.

We'll almost never see a Full Boot be less than a Minute from cold to usable the security checks and software validation takes time and RIM's OS's do it every time!

I'm on my phone so I can't see what phone you are running but it sounds like my 9700. Its been getting worse and worse. Now its starting to shut itself off with no notice. I click something, it starts to think, then I see a black screen and the led lights up. Then I have to sit through the long boot time again. So close to throwing it at a wall. The 9900 can't come soon enough.

I'm not completely sure about this, but i think some of the longer boot times are related to the Micro SD cards. On OS 5 I recall having 7 and 8 minute boot times. OS 6 seems a bit better, though I just did a battery pull on my 9800 and it took 4 1/2 minutes to get to the AT&T splash screen and 5 minutes to pass the security screen...still painfull...

And my Tour did ok when it had the orig OS on it.. 4 I think. Upgraded to 5 and it then went to like 4 mins. Does not usually bother me that much. Not unless I am expecting a call.
