why do i keep getting a "GSM" signal on my 9900?

Im in Arlington, TX. (D/FW) i like to keep my phone on EDGE to save battery but the last few days my signal goes back and forth between GSM and EDGE. is this software, hardware or tmobile problem? anyone else in my area have this problem? i have reloaded the o/s and that does not seem to help.

I would think GSM is 2g still. Otherwise doesnt it say 3g for 3g?

U r right. GSM is 2g. Now that I put my phone on 4g it says EDGE. O well. How do u like the virtual kb on the lumia 521?

personally i'd assume that's network related, as it suggests you have a weak 2g signal only, which cannot give you any data connectivity.
