Why is Sprint charging $250 for the Bold 9930 $199 seems to be cost of any superphone now. Plus i opened a line and got a free phone from them about 3 days ago, which I will exchange once the 21st comes. Not only do we have to pay $250 but that is after the $50 mail in rebate so in reality we have to come up with $300 right out of the box (bestbuy, etc., have instant mail in rebate but I dont have that option since i opened the line at a Sprint store).

I would like sprint to justified why they are charging $250 instead of $200.

    I pretty sure its $249 minus a $50 rebate making it $199.

after buying the bold 9000 at a best buy store (att rep told me to go to best buy they were cheaper there) and i found that when you have an issue with a phone, such as all the buttons stop working, along with the trackball, if you are with in warrenty, they will just open a box, and hand you a new phone, where att will make you wait for one to come, and then send the old one back- so i will always buy my phones at a best buy location

Cause they knew I was dumping this evo a.s.a.freakin.p! Soon as they gave a release date for the 9930. Which is on craigslist right now *shameless plug*

The thing is that Sprint priced the device based on a 2yr contract .

A lot of people forget to mail in the rebate allowing the company to make more money. They pretty much bring people in by saying its cheap with a mail in then hope people forget to mail it or people don't follow mailing instructions and void the rebate. Its stupid but from a financial point of view benefits the company.

I thought that I seen a post somewhere that Sprint was bringing back the mail-in-rebates, not sure where it was posted, but it was approximately a week or 2 ago.

Ok, I was able to locate the article on SprintFeed, but it was stated that mail-in-rebates we put back in place on July 24th. Not sure if this all came to pass, but this is where I had seen it.

But if you read the little bubble to the right, it states that only phones that have a promotional rate of 149.99 or less will get a $50 MIR. So, what it sounds like to me is that for phones 149.99 or less you have to get the MIR, but for pricier phones they still apply the instant rebate.

I just got off the phone with a Sprint customer care rep, he said the Instant Rebates expired 07/31/11...and they're doing a $50.00 Mail-in rebate on the Bold 9930, which makes the end cost $199.99 (state taxes, activation fees also.) And if you're contract has expired and you're doing month to month (like me) Sprint will credit your account $80.00 when you resign a new 2yr contract) this is separate from your $150.00 upgrade for your device.

BestBuy usually offers instant rebate making it $200. I will be going that route definitely.

Edit: Is anyone looking to try out Torch 9850? The price tag is $149 (will there be $50 MIR on top of that?). Since the Bold is having issues like high trackpad sensitivity, back button, questionable battery life and no AF camera. For $100, I will be trying out Torch first and replace it in 30 days if I don't like it.

Edit: Sorry. Never mind. The PR says $149 after rebate for Torch.
