I am still loving my bold 9000 after just over a year having it. I see nothing i wish to upgrade it to, so therefore i won't be doing so anytime soon unless this phone dies where it can't be fixed.
There are worse phones... Though there are moments where I just want to whip the stupid thing across the room... Mostly relating to say, GPS not working or apps that cost WAYYYYY more than they should be (THREE DOLLARS AND NINETEEN CENTS FOR A FRIGGEN TIP CALCULATOR?! To make matters worse, it's on the featured apps page of App World!). The lack of any form of cheap entertainment is also a bummer (Again, no way I'm paying five bucks for Tetris). Trackballs shouldn't be on phones. Web browser is crap compared to Android/Safari. Permissions shouldn't have to be dealt with on a cell phone... The list goes on.
Though the keyboard is nice, works fine as a bluetooth modem, it feels good in the hand and the speakers are great. I did get this phone for free, but I really shouldn't have to deal with 75% of the problems I encounter.
You do realize that the Bold does have a Calculator already included? And you do know how to use a calculator to figure a tip? If not, I'll teach you:
Take the total price of the bill, and multiply it by the percentage you want to tip (make sure you convert the percentage to a decimal i.e. 18% would be .18), the result is the amount to tip.
I just saved you THREE DOLLARS AND NINETEEN CENTS.
You're welcome :D
I have a 9700 but I still love the 9000 minus trackball....just thought I'd chime in
Use my 9000 daily and everything else is just laying around the apartment until it becomes unfixable (or they add a trackpad).
Its the only phone I've used that doesn't make me feel like I have the largest hands/longest fingers in the world.
I still use n love it,
Even sometimes the trackball annoying,
But I can fix it by my self,
So, still love my 9000.. :)

I agree with your comments above.
The only other thing I would add to the 9000 is another 128 meg of app memory which the 9700 already has and all of what you are asking for above. The onlt down fall I see with that unit is the smaller size and weight which is the only thing stopping me for changing from my 9000. Considering I am on my fifth one.
I like the phone but not in love.

My 9000 has been great. It is my first BB and I have fallen in love with it. I can't imagine life without my BB, mostly because of push email. I use it for work email and my private account. The GPS is very helpful also, and I can use it as an MP3 player. The browser is just OK but really does what I need it to do. Sadly, my trackball has been acting up for the last month. It scrolls fine, but when I click it nothing happens which means there are certain things I cannot do with it like log in to my bank account. I am due for an upgrade at the end of next week and plan on ordering a 9700. Once I have the 9700 in my hands I plan to take my 9000 apart and if I can fix the trackball I will keep it as a spare. I have been pretty hard on it really and this is the first problem I've had so I can't complain.
I have and still do love my 9000, I have had it since its release. While I have had the typical troubles associated with the device overall I have been quite happy.
Here is the kicker! I am an avid apple user and before my assimilation to blackberry world, I was all about the iPhone. Not so much any more, well that is until the iPhone4 started its debut. I am very curious to see what the hype is all about especially since my upgrade available next month. I still love my bold but have not been impressed with any of the newly released or upcoming devices that RIM has been working on.
Dont know if ill be able to handle the switchover meltdown from a blackberry to an iPhone(IF THAT HAPPENS). But I will always keep my bold until RIM proves to return it to its original size and look while upgrading memory, camera, etc.
I have had mine for over a year and I really do nto care for the newer BB models. My 9000 works great, the screen is slightly bigger than the 9700 and the leathery finish looks just fine after a year of use. Battery is starting to be a concern, but I might as well buy a new one if need be.

i still love my 9000, best blackberry ive ever used or owned
I still love it, and it suits me like no other device so far.
Won't be too sad about it not getting the OS6..
I'll just black it out when it gets "boring" and it will still be good for some time :)
I love my Bold 9000 but I sure wish it had a larger screen. Aging eyes...y'know? And the trackball idea is so old. I'd think about a HTC EVO, but by the time I'm up for a new phone, BB will have improved even more. :)
its all about comfort and 9000 was way more comfortable than the 9700 or 9650 keyboard was jus right
I currently own both the 9000 and the 9700 and I have to say that I love the 9000! I use them both all day and the 9700 just doesn't compare. Bold 9000 forever!!! Ha ha.
