2 things wrong with my 6.0 bold (at&t).
#1. when I unlock the phone to make a call, it locks up again after the call has ended. I've heard conflicting comments on this...is it a 6.0 thing or what? I dont want to disable the "lock after whatever minutes you decide" option...I can be browsing the internet and if a call comes through it will lock up after call ends.
2. on my contact list i have an old email address (gmail) whicj I no longer have nor is it on my bb email settings acct...but when I'm going to add a contact it still shows that particular email address as an option. I keep reading about going into advanced options from the main screen but when i press the menu button/options all i get is " launch by typing/wallpaper settings/number of icon rows/download folders/and reset to default settings. even on my desktop I cant seem to find the service books....

first question i have no idea because I don't use 6.0

second question - might be easier to log in to your bis acct online at att.blackberry.com and just delete the gmail address from there and reboot the phone unless you can find advanced options in the options section which is where the service books are kept under the heading default services

when i go into the 'reset to default" it gives me a check list of things i want to default: layout, wallpaper,download folder and icon arrangement. plus on my bis i deleted it already...i had the 5.0 and could access my service books, not on 6.0

Options (the wrench icon!!!) > Device > Advanced System Settings > Service Book

This is odd behavior. I can't even find how to do this on my 9700. Maybe your company has set up some kind of policy that it pushes to your phone (check Options>Security>Security Status Information to see the policy). My only suggestion is to look at Options>Security>Password. At the bottom of Password there are two settings for "Allow Outgoing Calls While Locked" and "Lock Handheld Upon Holstering." Play with those and see if it changes your phone's behavior. OTOH, if you've been checking the time to lock setting, you've already seen these.

Open any mail app. Open the menu and select Options. There will be an item called E-mail Account Management. You should be able to delete the unused account completely from there.

Oh, BTW, the service books are at Options>Device>Advanced System Settings.

ok, i got the part w/ the service books...I dont have the gmail service book on there, nor do I have it on my blackberry email acct on my desktop, but it still shows up as an option when i add a new contact...you guys with 5.0 i believe are a little different than the 6.0 if im not mistaken w/ certain features...(among others like the 'page" or "column" option which i miss dearly)....as for the phone locking, i've seen quite a few suggestions about what to do with the settings....nothing good comes out of that.....

thanks for your help Phil, if i'm not mistaken you can access you advanced settings from the menu button on the 5.0,not on the 6.0....correct?

I've never had that phone locking issue till I got this bold...checked all the settings..everything is off except for locking after 15 minutes..which if i deactivate that i'm defeating the purpose of it in itself

when i remove the battery it will work for a call or two but then it goes back to the same thing again.

What version of OS 6 do you have? There was some pretty buggy ones before .461.

Maybe it might be advisable to update it using apploader after installing it on your computer.

Options, type in Service and then, select Service Books. Problem solved.
