Where is my 8 GB?
Right, so I just got my 9900 but when I am checking the storage, it says:
Application Storage: 194.1 MB
Built-In Media Storage: 6.2 GB
Media Card Storage: 14.8 GB
I thought the Built in Media storage was 8 GB?
I got a Made in Hungary 2 unit, no squeaks or any flaws.
I just want to make sure, is your top of the keyboard a bit elevated? As in, if you scroll downwards with the trackpad you can feel it slightly tough the keyboard? I tried another test unit and they both were the same so I assumed it is designed this way?
You know right under the BB Menu button and the back arrow button...the top row is kind of elevated a bit. not so bad, but just feels weird

Your device OS runs on your internal memory, too.
Mine shows:
Application Storage: 247.0 MB
Built-In Media Storage: 6.2 GB
Media Card Storage: 29.7 GB
My media card is higher capacity.
You can hold all the media you want on your media cards. It is application storage that some fear they will run out of. Only way to run out would be fill their device with a bunch of crap!

Some of the 8Gb memory is used so you only get 6.2gb left
-
Oh, thanks for the clarification guys.
Just thought I was the only one with 6.2 Built in storage LOL
-
8GB formatted becomes 6.2GB on this device...they're all 6.2GB from factory.
-
Thank you, was just makin' sure :)

Here is how the space is allocated.
8GB before format, so after format you will be left with 7.4GB (this is the number you would see before allocation).
Of the 7.4GB:
6.2GB allocated for Media storage
Partition1 - Swap file for the OS - about 400MB
Partition2 - OS files - about another 400MB
Partition3 - Application storage - about another 400MB
Hope this helps answer all the questions.
So, 188MB should be plenty for installing all the useful apps, you can free up around 40MB to 50MB by removing all languages that you don't need.
Note: For large 3d games like the roller coaster game, most of the data is stored on the SD Card or Media storage, only a very very small amount is stored in the application storage area.

Thank you for the detailed explanation!!

I got rid of a few bloatware apps and the languages fresh start I get about 234.2MB free.
