    If you can't upgrade from your carrier, check ebay. I just got one for $287. It's not cheap, but at least you'll have a BlackBerry.

    $287 is expensive!

    they are going for $150-$200 on my local CL and Kijiji

    The 9650 goes for like $150 on ebay. Why would the 9700 be so much more?

    9650s are not as versatile as 9700s.

    a 9650 is a CDMA phone that can only be unlocked and used as 2G.

    a 9700 holds more value as it is a straight GSM device that can be unlocked and used as a 3G almost anywhere in the world.

    Ah.. yes. I had a Tour that was a world phone. I had always thought the 9650 was as well.

    PS. To the OP, did you drop it in water, have it run over or smashed out of anger? If none of those three occurred, did it turn into a paperweight? Have you tried everything offered on Crackberry's HowTo section to fix it?

    Depending on location, tryout your local Craigslist or Kijiji. They sell from anywhere from $200-$300 if you are going to pay more than $300, your paying too much for a second hand item. If you cannot find them in your local classifieds , your next option is to go on Ebay or the marketplace on Crackberry.
