I start at around 30mb but will be down in the teens by the end of a day. That's probably because of a lot of Twittering using TweetGeniusn I suspect. Anybody else think that you get less memory back when you delete a programme than you lose when you install it?

Some do leave some files behind, but it's a very small percentage of your memory.

How do I find out how much free memory I have? I know it's a newbish question but in all my years playing with Blackberrys I have never bothered to look. I am in the "status area" is that the right area to look? Mine says 6022241 Bytes next to "File free"

You're looking in the right place and that's 6mb which is very low. I suggest you do a battery pull and see what it is then.

Yep, about 22mb. That's ok imo but some people's "panic level" starts at 20. There are a few memory recovery tips on Crackberry that might be worth a look.

Yup, that would ok if that was the operating level. For whatever reason, that's pretty low right after a battery pull.

Err, so what's the trick to getting 50MB free??

I'm .266 and at reboot I'm around 38. Can go down to 25 after some use, never much below that. Even if I use Quickpull every night. That's even with MemoryUp Pro and LogMaid.

I wouldn't be sweating it. The phone won't run any faster with more memory than the 25.

Yeah, I figured. I kept reading above 20 and your good. I just like tinkering.

That thread with info on all the useless stuff was a little overwheling for me. I should give it another shot. I guess Crackmem too, never used that. Maybe I will try that with .100.

I tried Crackmem last night for the first time. Great little program. I didn't use the wipe function since that happens anyway prior to installing the new OS.

For the people asking, delete cache in browser; text messages, mms, etc; event log, delete all unused programs.

Those will all help, and main thing is closing all apps correctly when done.

All covered elsewhere many times, even in articles.

I usually hover around 38-40mb after my phone has been running a long time.

Fresh reboot is something like 50+

I have the original OS, 147, I think, and it is around 37. I have not upgraded the OS because my Bold works fine so far.

I don't have many apps installed on my .266 so after a pull I get 57.7Mb (yes that's right, fifty seven point seven) and after a few days it's down to about 49Mb

I'm in the same boat. Platform .217 here and I get down into 12MB after 24 hrs use and usually reside under 10. I have several apps installed, but I just can't get the high numbers you guys have....

I also just got a second Bold for work and it's at 34.2 MB with no add'l apps installed on platform .157 and it's been up for 7 days straight. WTH?

    Both are AT&T Bolds.

Can someone shed some light here or tell me what the culprit may be? or give some tips?
