Hi, BB Bold 9930. All of a sudden I have a yellow fan shaped icon next to the unopened email icon in the notification view bar. The list of icons on the BB site fails to identify this icon nor is there anything by emails & upcoming appts in the full notification view. What is that icon?
    thanks

Perhpas, but if so it does not offer further info in the full notification area. If I don't know which app I don't know what to do :-)

That looks like the wifi indicator, perhaps notifying you there is an open network around?

It is a hotspot wifi point. When you access this type of hotspots that you have to sign in everytime you enter on it, it is very used in hotels and malls.

When you come back and your device do recognize the Wifi Hotspot it shows this icon.

If you go to your saved Wifi nets you will have the one shown with this yellow wifi icon.

    Cheers from Barcelona! ;-)

I have 2 saved wifi networks but I usually keep WiFi turned off. Should this show up if WiFi is turned off?
    thanks

I think in this instance your wifi was switched on...notice the grey wifi icon top right indicates it's on but not connected to a network. When your wifi is off, your handset will not poll or try connecting to hotspots.

Usually the wifi will pop on when it has a saved location. That's what mine does and also cuts off when I'm not kn range anymore

The icon shows up if WiFi is on or off. I've had the WiFi off for 24 hours and the icon is still there. I have no idea what it means, what it wants or how to get rid of it

click on the notification bar and scroll down and click on the symbol. It should tell you what it is, and then turn off the notification. I've had that notification few times but don't remember what it is. If that doesn't work try a battery pull.
