Hey crackberry nation! I have been searching for days to try and figure out what I should do and I'm still on the fence about it. Anyways I've come to you guys...I've been offered a brand new bold for my brand new 8900 and since I've always wanted one I'm really considering it. So my question is, is it worth trading my 8900 for the bold when ill be using it on tmobile? Is the only thing better about the bold the 3g?

If you're on T-mobile the 3g on the Bold will be meaningless, and you wont be able to use UMA. If you take those to two things into considerations, and it isn't a big deal to you then by all means do it.
forget UMA... it is useless anyhow... the BOLD has faster processor, and BIGGER screen, ///// and 8900 has slightly more APP memory... and smaller size (if that's a good thing...)....
it is your choice, but do more research and use the SEARCH function b/c this topic has been discussed many times... try searching "8900 vs BOLD" or any variation of such...
I have always disliked the curve keypads. I absolutely love the bold's. Its a pleasure typing on it. Curve 8300 and 8900 just isn't comfortable for me
Good point, for people my size (I'm 6'5" and 230 Lbs), my fingers are just too big to be comfortable on bb curve's of any kind... (but that's just me)...
(for reference, BOLD keyboard is excellent, and the best I've tried for big fingers (and I've tried EVERYTHING!!!!))
8900 has better camera, MUCH more memory, sharper screen, and fast edge. bold has 3g, faster processor, slightly better keyboard. I can't tell if your on tmobile or at&t because I'm on the mobile site but if you're with tmobile I'd keep the 8900. If at&t I'd take the bold.

Someone already mentioned this, but no one else seems to be listening. Bold 3G will not work on T-Mobile. T-Mobile uses the 1900 Mhz band for 3G, and Bold doesn't have that capability.

Even though the Bold's 3G won't work on T-mobile's network doesn't mean you still can't use the device. It will just be on 2G all the time. It's not uncommon for people to buy phones that are meant for Euro/Asia frequencies because they really like the device.
To the OP: if you haven't held a Bold before, I highly recommend you go into an AT&T store and see if you can test one out or atleast get a feel of the device. If you prefer the build quality of the Bold (which you will) over the 8900, then you can add that to your "pros" list of trading for the Bold instead.

You mean the 1700mhz band is what T-mobile usees for 3G which the Bold doesn't support

Same situation as forever with having both. If someone put a gun to my head and said now choose or die . I would pick the Bold in a heartbeat. Not to take anything away from the 8900, it's a great device and I love it also.
I always give unbaised opinions. But unfortunately I find the Bold better in every way compared to the 8900. And yes, it doesn't feel as solid as the Bold. Even my buddy agrees and he owns the 8900.

If autofocus and 3.2 mega pixel camera is not important to you then stick with the bold. Personally I would prefer the bigger screen and 3G than the camera. I have a good Sony Digital camera to do the picture taking.
