There are a lot of wishful thinking among a few here. When the 8800 was released, it sure wasn't selling for just $500 retail price, so regardless of how bigger ATT is than Rogers, why would the Bold be released be cheaper? I'm guessing it would be retail for around $600 and you certainly won't be able to get anything cheaper on Ebay since demand for it is so high.
I totally agree with you. There is no way ATT is releasing the Bold for less then $550-$600 full retail price. Just looking at their retail prices now, the 8820 is still over $450. Third party websites are pre-selling unlocked versions for $650-$799... ATT will come in with a retail price around $599.

    ... a 12 month contract?

I thought they all wanted at least 18 months now... 12 is good though!

Going back to the original subject, it looks as if the cheapest price here in the UK for an unlocked SIM free model is going to be the equivalent of about $700.

Some pre-order companies are already asking well over $1000 though!

I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it outright. I just upgraded last May and I don't think I'll be eligible for another upgrade; if I am, the price will probably be almost the same as buying it at the retail price. (I'm with Rogers.)

I would think they need to price it more competitive to the iPhone, but then again it's a different niche so my theory is debunked. Businesses will buy it for CxO's and not think twice about it which leaves the regular public at a disadvantage. :-/
