    Please do not duplicate post.

You cannot turn off Voice Activated Dialling (VAD). It is normally a part of the OS.

VAD is activated by default by the Left Side Convenience Key. You can change this key in Options, Screen/Keypad to some other function.

Once this is done you should reboot your phone with a battery pull and try again. If it works then you are good to go.

If you are still in trouble then you may remove VAD from your phone by the following procedure.

    • Make sure that the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is installed on your PC.
    • Download and install http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/crackutil-85617/. Make sure that you read the 1st post in the CrackUtil thread since this gives instructions as to how to run the program as Administrator under Windows Vista. If you run WIndows 7, install CrackUtil as standard and then drag the CrackUtil folder to C:\ . Just right-mouse-button click on the C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\CrackUtil folder, drag it and drop it (Move) into C:\.
    • Disconnect you PC from the Internet so that Desktop Manager does not interfere by downloading any updates and files.
    • Connect your phone and run Crackutil.
    • Using the middle tab (File Manipulation), click Retrieve File Listing.
    • Once you see the list scroll down until you see the following files:

You may only see some of these but I have given you a full list.
    • Using the Remove File from Device button, remove each of these files in turn. The phone will probably reboot after each file removal. Removed files are copied to the CrackUtil folder so thay are not lost.
Once this is done, VAD is gone from your phone.

This is not a trivial procedure so if you get stuck, are not sure, or just need to talk about this, plese come back here.
