Hawk is right, it is a sensor to turn the touch screen off while on a phone call. The little things that make a diffence!
Almost thought it might be proximity sensor because it doesn't blink when I'm on loudspeaker. But this isn't working real good @ night when all lights are switched off. I still have to lock the phone from above.
