ive heard that verizon should be getting the new bold 9650 sometime in may and i was wondering if thats true because ive heard it will be released may 1st, 16th, 17th, and 27th
I would love for it to be May 1st but it is starting to seem unlikely. Given past releases being a couple weeks before Spring, I am hopeful we'll see very soon.
Didn't the screen shot of the VZW SKU that crackberry posted in the blog say launch date of May 27th?

Tour got released through Verizon Sunday July 12, 2009. Sprint Customers didn't begin receiving theirs until Monday July 20, 2009
I sure hope that I am wrong, but I am not sure about the Verizon release date of May 1, as previously reported. It sure seems like there would have been some word from them in the last day or two if May 1 was still valid.
People are saying Verizon doesn't want to confirm the May 1st release date because it will hurt Droid Incredible sales, which launches April 29th.
Personally, I think it'll be about a week before the Sprint launch.

We can definitely rule out Saturday. There is no way it will launch the same weekend that the HTC Incredible goes on sale.
People are saying Verizon doesn't want to confirm the May 1st release date because it will hurt Droid Incredible sales, which launches April 29th.
Personally, I think it'll be about a week before the Sprint launch.
We've had the Incredibles in stock for a week now, we have no inventory or promotional material or training on any Blackberry.
Then i think people dont have a lot of imagination.
I very much seriously doubt that the 9650 can hurt sales of the incredible... to the general consumer there is zero difference between the Tour and the 9650.. (and think like a consumer before you lambast that comment..lol)
What is more likely and issue is managing foot traffic in the stores... It would make a lot of sense to have the 9650 released a couple of weeks after the incredible so that the stampeding hoards can abate somewhat before the crackberry addicts come raging in..
So my view is a range of 0-2wks prior to Sprint.

I walked into my local VZW store (downstairs from my office) and asked if there was any news on the new Bold. The CSR acted like he had no clue what I was talking about. I said "it is on the RIM website and you are supposed to be getting it soon. I've been a VZW customer since it was GTE Mobilenet some 20 years and my 2 year commitment is up in 2 weeks and I am just trying to make up my mind if I want to stay with Verizion." He replied "the best information is probably available on the web." I said "No s--t! I guess that makes YOU and THIS STORE sort of useless, doesn't it?" and walked out.
I could save a bit (maybe $20 a month) going to Sprint or on my wife's plan at AT&T. I guess I should look at T-mobile too. Coverage doesn't matter as 90% of my use is at my office (I have no wire lines - just 2 cell lines - one for voice and the other for internet tethered to my BB) and EVERY carrier has sites on top of the building about 20' above my office.
I called my local store today since I haven't called in a while and since WES I figured I'd see what they said: "We can't confirm the release dates of unannounced phones but I would call back on May 1." Don't know what that means especially in light of the Google alert that said RIM was releasing the 9650 to Sprint first, on May 23rd. Blasphemy!! (This is for those who only read one thread).
