Update apps without BIS?

I have a 9700 without a BIS plan. I only use it during the summer months when I live in another country and use a local sim card. I am not there yet but want to update some apps like whatsapp etc but I cannot access the internet or appworld on wifi. Is there a way to do this without BIS:

1. Any appworld.cod available I can install from my computer?
2. Is there a latest whatsapp.cod I can download and install via my computer?

Actually, you can access BlackBerry World over WiFi.

Update your BB World client by pointing the 9700's browser to blackberry.com/appworld and after a download/install/reboot, you should be good to go!

Thats the problem.. I cannot access the internet using the BB browser or Opera. It says data connection is not available. I am using OS6.
