Yes, it's definitely an OS issue. I upgraded from 7.0.0.261 to 7.0.0.579 and run into this. Both versions are my carrier's official ones. It's hard to believe such a bug can slip through.
This is happening to me too and it started happening after the update of 7.1 not before. I had posted some issues about this and I was told its a os issue. Hopefully it will be fixed soon cause I hate when the battery does that. It really makes me mad
I hope that a new OS drops soon for Verizon/Sprint. I find it hard to believe that a bug like this would pass both carrier's testing...
General consensus was that whatever they changed in the radio file that caused the 100-92 drop is related to fixing the bricking issue. I haven't had any of my devices brick since using the os 7.0.576-590 and 7.1.0.190. I had one brick using the 540 radio file with 585 java.
7.1.0.190 has the battery bug fixed and I haven't had a brick, it seems like they fixed the brick problem with 576 which battery bug and fixed the battery bug in 7.1.0.190
I just got my Bold on Saturday, upgraded from a Torch 9800. This battery thing is kinda depressing me. Yesterday my battery seemed to last the entire day np. But this morning in a matter of 30mins its gone from 100% - 89%. I haven't tried installing the 7.1 update but I guess that's what ill be doing tonight. Quick question though, is there any instructions how to install the leaked 7.1 through a mac os x lion laptop?

Meh.....not a big deal for me. Even after the quick 10% drop I am still only getting 2% to 3% battery draw per hour over the course of the day. Obviously its a software bug.
