- Hey y'all.
I have a little bit of ranting to do. I am not down with all the logos/brand names on the new onyx. If the pictures are telling the truth this is what we got:
Top of phone - Blackberry logo and name
Bottom of phone - Carrier logo and name
Back top of phone - bold name
back batter cover - blackberry logo
Really? 4 name and/or logos. That makes the device so ugly IMO. In this field, you cant beat the iphone, just an apple stamp on the back and boom, done. I am a blackberry addict but I really wish they would do the same. What do y'all think?Last edited by RobJob; 08-12-09 at 01:04 AM.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com08-12-09 01:02 AMLike 0 - Blackberry branding really isn't any worse than any other mobile manufacturer, save for Apple. Quit being so picky! Bold 2 is going to kick ***!

The iPhone also has some other nuance writing on the back, which in my opinion is much more tacky than a few logos. I'm sure you also remembered that Tmo could put their myFaves logo on the handset, too.08-12-09 04:23 AMLike 0
- TMO does have a myFaves logo on the bottom of the 8900, and it says "T-Mobile" above the camera..do the logos really matter? I think it's more about the capability of the phone than of the logo. (Just my opinion)08-12-09 04:55 AMLike 0
- Whats great about Blackberry' is the customizing you can do with them, A screw driver and some fine sandpaper you can easily removed all logos and thanks to sites like CNN and ebay the possibilities are limitless,For me it was seeing an entirely pink Bold.
With the Blackberry it's a very common device that can be made to be very unique just for you.08-12-09 06:34 AMLike 0 - I agree, I think the BOLD stamp on the back is incredibly ugly. I've gone through numerous black berries in the past on multiple providers and I like the simple Black Berry logo on the back, the design. Saying the actual word BOLD on the back is just a little tacky I think.08-12-09 07:59 AMLike 0
- Dont like the your logos? customize away good sir!(risking voiding warranty of course) i will probably be changing the silver bezel on my future tmo 9700 to a charcoal one. Besides, the tmo 9700 will have 5 logos including the myfaves logo, doesnt that just kick ***! lol

Perhaps they plan on labeling the entire 8XXX lineup into curves and all of the 9XXX into Bolds lol, jk!
What do you guys think???Last edited by fsshariq; 08-12-09 at 08:45 AM. Reason: added more thoughts!
08-12-09 08:33 AMLike 0 - What about the folks who can't customize. This isn't RIM's fault, it's the carriers. It's never RIM's fault in fact, the carriers really screw things up for all phones in my opinion. The only thing RIM did was put BOLD on the back.. but that's forgivable.. The T-Mobile phones remind you that it's T-Mobile 17 times on the phone, during boot up with an annoying animation etc.. it's rather ridiculous.

There are always unbranded phones which cost more money,But are still an option. That's why I don't like the these carrier exclusivity agreements they install all their bloatware and crappy logos.08-12-09 08:46 AMLike 0 - Umm who cares??? Most people put cases on their phone and you can't even see the logos.
I finally realized that the internet wasnt made for porn and scamming people. After reading several forums and this post I now know the internet was made for people to complain and cry.08-12-09 08:59 AMLike 0 - Umm who cares??? Most people put cases on their phone and you can't even see the logos.

Besides cases are tacky.08-12-09 09:02 AMLike 0 - Agree. I can understand that one would want to protect their investment but all these cases bulk up the phones and takes away from the aesthetics!08-12-09 09:54 AMLike 0

- Since blackberries are photographed so much and there are even websites devoted to just pictures of celeb's with bb's. I can see why branding is important from all angles.
Look at any car, a BMW has the logo on the hood, on the trunk along with the model#, on the wheels, on the steering wheel and even more places. Would you not care to own a BMW because of this? This is what branding is all about, to drill the company name and logo into your head. When you see a blackberry, even from the back, there will be no mistaking as to what it is.
Now lets move on to something more important to complain about, like how the green phone symbol is upside down or why doesn't it have red numbers
Brand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brand identity
A product identity, or brand image are typically the attributes one associates with a brand, how the brand owner wants the consumer to perceive the brand - and by extension the branded company, organization, product or service. The brand owner will seek to bridge the gap between the brand image and the brand identity.[3] Effective brand names build a connection between the brand personality as it is perceived by the target audience and the actual product/service. The brand name should be conceptually on target with the product/service (what the company stands for). Furthermore, the brand name should be on target with the brand demographic. [4] Typically, sustainable brand names are easy to remember, transcend trends and have positive connotations. Brand identity is fundamental to consumer recognition and symbolizes the brand's differentiation from competitors.
Brand identity is what the owner wants to communicate to its potential consumers. However, over time, a products brand identity may acquire (evolve), gaining new attributes from consumer perspective but not necessarily from the marketing communications an owner percolates to targeted consumers. Therefore, brand associations become handy to check the consumer's perception of the brand.[Last edited by mookish; 08-13-09 at 08:35 AM.
