I wish that too, i wish to see 7.2
But that's gonna take months to come, I doubt there's gonna be much change.

I feel like 7.1 is the last of [I]major[I] updates...seeing as they have laid off a large number of their Java-based coding team.

I doubt we will see anything beyond 7.1, I dont think there has been any official word from RIM on it however.

Not to long ago I caught this line in a post:
While we have stopped SDK work on BlackBerry 7 OS, we’ve decided to make the source code open for all those developers using the Java Plug-in for Eclipse
Source: BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse now available on Github! BlackBerry Developer Blog

So the fact that the SDK is no longer going to be updated would (to me at least) indicate that 7.1 is the end of the line. I don't think RIM has ever released an new OS without an SDK. See here: https://developer.blackberry.com/jav...usjdeversions/

I actually think we'll still see updates for the current OS. Maybe even 7.2, RIM knows everyone isn't gonna buy into BB10, and i'm sure there are a whole lot of OS7 devices out there.

I am hoping that the updates continue for a while. I would agree with Thachoc1 that there are numerous OS7 devices in active circulation and it will take a while for these individual owners to upgrade to BB10.

well anyone that got a 9900 and signed up for a 3 year contract won't be able to do a hardware upgrade, without paying early upgrade fees (atleast with some service providers), to get the BB10 on release day. so i think they would release 7.2 for those hardcore berry fan to make up want to stay with them.

I'm sure the 7.1 updates will keep on coming but a major upgrade to something like 7.2 is out of the question.
Did we ever get 5.1 or 6.1??? No we did not. and in those days the all revolutionary BB10 did not even exist.

That is my feeling at least..

Currently, there's 7.1.0.xxx. Maybe there will be 7.1.1.xxx but I doubt of any 7.2. It would be cool though

What exactly are you expecting a v7.2 for anyway? anything in particular that you would consider a major revision prior to BB10??

yeah, i wouldnt hold my breath on 7.2 folks. There will be minor updates for bugs and performance issues but 7.2 will never come. Even if it did, by the time its released the low end BB10 devices will be out that you might as well upgrade to those.

Ugh. If it ends up like any one of the last..., all of the 7.1 builds, no thanks. The same glitches (like the media player) never end up getting fixed. It just feels like they're getting worse.

No matter. I think I'll be replacing my phone early next year anyways.

I'm on 7.1.0.714 and everything is perfect, really.

I don't know what I'd expect in a hypothetical 7.2 release. I don't see much room for improvement in my two 9900s and 9810. Everyone likes longer battery life, so that would of course be nice.

It would be cool if RIM released some more default ringtones, text tones and wallpapers, to freshen up their BB7 device. There's a new theme, Action Starts Here, by RIM, in App World. I really like the look of it, and it's little things like this from RIM that make me appreciate them.

I've been extremely satisfied with my current phones, and I think the only people that aren't, are people that didn't know that BlackBerrys don't have Skype and stuff.

It's not by RIM... or official in any way, shape or form.

It's not, its by Intellect Dimensions, and while new its not compatable with the 9900.

It is compatible with the 9900... it's just poorly written and doesn't play nicely with OS7.1

Although I am most happy with 7.1.0.580 for my 9930, I am always waiting for the next, more improved OS to make life better. I decided to skip the China Telecom version (.697?) based on multiple reports from the forums reporting not much improvement and even some new issues that were not seen on earlier OS releases (progressive volume decrease down to zero when playing media player, etc.)

I feel like I have a double whammy by having a 9930 instead of the 9900 and the fact that I have to endure Verizon's slow, even non-existent approval for release of new OS's within their system. I realize that the 9930 population is much, much smaller than the worldwide 9900 population, but it is very frustrating to always be nearly last for updates.

While you guys are discussing the merits of 7.1 vs. 7.2, I am still waiting with baited breath for a good leak above .580 or an official 9930 version of .714 that everyone else has been getting over the past week. Still nothing for the 9930 but hope springs eternal!

I pray for blessed relief of BB10 and I hope it is all that has been reported. Although 1st quarter 2013 still seems like a long way off.

Hoping for some more 9930 love before the year is over, but I have learned not to hold my breath.

    Cheers,
