Jm1 is original bb battery; yes Mugen produce a 1500mh battery compatible with 9790/9900 (same size as JM-1) no coder needed; based on net feedbacks seems giving good results (approx 20% power more)
neumann bro thank you for help other much more capacity batteries ?
You can also get the 1550 Mah batteries, cheap from either Amazon or ebay. I have one of them and they work good although I have not compared. The thing is that the 9790 is a little too thin for my liking so I bought an extended battery (Amazon-Onite) with cover and does not need a decoder. It is 3200 Mah in size and fits in the palm of my hand much more comfortably. This is same as the one for the BB99x0. Seidio has the extended battery with cover but at double the cost of the one (Onite) from amazon. The one from Amazon (both the 1550 and 3200 Mah is branded "Onite". They both seem to work good. Whatever you do, do not purchase the so called Gold 2430 Mah batteries as they are NOT 2430 Mah and don't last as long as regular batteries and need the decoder-a total ripoff from China.
how long can you use with this extended battery?
to tell you the truth I don't know as I have not tested it to the extremes. Some say 2-3 days before a charge is needed. But, I put all of my Blackberries on the charger at night whether they need it or not. You should be able to get at least two full days with the extended battery and of course this also depends upon your usage, apps etc. Remember that we are talking about a battery (3200 Mah) that is 2 1/2 times + that of the stock puny 1230 Mah battery that comes with the 9790.
that sounds very good....
Well how low does it go before charging it at night just to give us a general idea as I might be interested in the onite one !
If it is just idling with absolute minimal use all day, then it will come down to 85-90% full. I usually turn on my Blackberries at about 8am and off at about 8pm and have actually stopped noting what the actual levels (via BBDA) are as the icon shows almost full. I play around changing my batteries and covers all the time. Sometimes I go back to the stock batteries cause I have nice Seidio covers that fit over them and then I get bored and go back to the 3200 Mah batteries. If I am gonna be out and about for the whole day, then I install the 3200 battery but if I am only out for a short time I use the smaller battery they are thinner and lighter and easier to carry around. The bigger battery does indeed add bulk and takes away somewhat the looks but it does feel more stabile in the hand with the larger battery so I don't have the tendency to drop it like I do with the thinner battery. So ya gotta think about the nuances of a bigger battery vs a smaller battery beyond just how long the charge will last. By the way, I have noticed since I started using hybrids (Berrlylicious BL hybrids in particular), that my stock (1230Mah) battery lasts way longer. You might want to check out those hybrids too.
thread revival! :)
i'm very glad i looked it up and got some more insight from all of you becox i am DESPERATE for a new battery for my 9790 i cannot stand this anymore after 8 months lol
so anyways, has anyone purchased any +3000mah batteries off the internet? which one and how are they after awhile?
the ONITE 3200mah from amazon giving mixed reviews about the battery dying and failing after a short while (altho it only reallie is 20bucks). but any other reviews for +3000mah batteries? i mean since i am going to buy one i rather buy something +3000mah rather than ~2000mah...right?
thanks and reply shortly!!! i possible i'm gonna order it tmw!!!
+1!
I'd also like to know this. I've done fine so far buying cheap laptop batteries so I'm tempted to give it a go
You have this Mugen monster:
[HLI-9790XL] Buy Mugen Power 3600mAh Extended Battery for BlackBerry Bold 9790 with Battery Door
I have used several Mugen batteries previously, and now I have a 1500 mAh (the one that doesn't need to replace the cover of my 9790) with god results.
thanks simon!
but the mugen one is $100 dollars, versus the $20 - $30...cannot compare...right??? for $100 i would rather choose another alternative........!!! :(
anymore reviews? especially feedbacks from ONITE 3200mah users???????
if not........are those online reviews on amazon...FAKE???? thanks and please reply shortly :)

Hi
I change original BB battery by MUGEN 1500. I respect strictly the notice concerning first battery cycles. Now phone stays "alive" 50% more ( with last Guatemala OS)....more comfortable!
