I have a 'One Rate Data Plan' with Rogers (valid in Canada and US). I cannot tether on this plan (it is not enabled by default). I've tried using BBDM 6.1 but a connection cannot be made - makes sense since my plan doesn't allow tethering. Also, all tethering capable plans with Rogers do not charge extra tethering fees.

In my particular case, is using a 3rd party app such as Tether or TetherBridge my only option? Will this allow me to tether?

    TIA.

Check this out. It should use the BB data plan so there should be no extra charges.

    Fixmo Extend | Fixmo Inc.

Tether is supposed to work the same way, but do search, I've heard some carriers (AT&T?) was charging even when using Tether.

Tether app is my solution. ATT wants big money for tethering. We are very judicious about the process and have no issues so far. With no video or audio streaming so our usage is not different all is well.
