    Just did it, took around 5 minutes. CS transfered me to Technical support where they released the PIN. They didn't need to call the previous owner either.

    What if your BB was on a BES server not a BIS? I have bought a BB at an auction of a company's assets and the previous owner is unknown to me. How is this situation resolved?

    Not sure how it would work. I'd just call AT&T and explaine your situation to them. Might not be a problem at all.
