Well, .217 is definitely better than .167 that was available when I bought mine last year.

hold on guys.....this upgrade has been out and known about for a few weeks now. and its nothing new...its still .167, its just the Software Platform that has been updated to 4.0.0.217. the OS is still 4.6.0.167. theres a sticky on the first page about it.

D*mn, I really had forgotten that this was put out there as an actual update. Lol, it happens. I wouldn't know since I never use at&t to upgrade my OS. I only use betas Still, I would pick .217 over .167 if I had the choice as a new BOLD owner.

If you're using the stock .167 OS, yes, upgrade.

Ok, technically it is an upgrade- just nothing major. Nevertheless, it is an upgrade.

theres actually a huge difference with 4.6.266 vs 4.6.167 (oem OS). why dont you guys try that instead of the updated .167? you get better battery life, more free memory better browser speed, etc.

    I agree.

Guys - dictoresno is on point about .266. "Huge" difference from .167 - whether stock or upgrade. Numerous guidance links and members to help you. There's a link is in my signature to help get you started step-by-step.

thanks buddy, and also, upgrading to .266 wont effect your warranty in any way, even though its not an official AT&T OS release. just make sure you follow the directions properly and delete the vendor file from the installation folder. you also get an application switcher by holding down your BB menu button. just another plus of any OS over .247 or so.

no, once backed up, a full install should take less than 20 mins. it hangs at one point while loading about 10-15 mins in then finishes.

I can absolutely see where this could take 2 hours. Download over 3G or wifi plus install, all with a slower connection and processor (for some of the work) than your PC.

Yes this has been out for a while BUT not for direct ots download directly from your bold. No
desktop manager needed it installs just like an ota app would. for any one that is not comfortable
Using the dm to upgrade this is a great option. While I haven't noticed anything major i do
Get better signal strength. The funny thing with the wireless upgrade option is that its not
Always on your phone. Sometime its there sometimes its not but either way this is te first
Time there has ever been an upgrade available threw it. Options>advanced options>wireless
Upgrade. Try resending your service books if its not there

Mote like 30-45 minutes, depending on how you go about updating. But for you 1st upgrade, takibg an hour to read all the posts, and directions first is time well spent.
