You can use GPS without it.
You can use Gmaps and other 3rd party Navigation apps, but IMO, the free ones don't compare to it.
I hvae AT&T Navigator and use it a lot. I never have any issues.
Gokivo is awesome! And FREE ( Blackberry App store)
ATT Nav talks (and costs $120 a year)...google maps has an astonishingly easy to visualize moving icon (and is free)...if you're listening to your car radio...or your dispatcher...or are conversing with passengers you can't hear ATT; you can always see your icon. work a bit to get the ZOOM correct on g-maps and there you go...
Gokivo isn't free.
Amazegps or Nav4All are free

It depends on wether you plan to use your bold as a tmtom or garmin like gps device. I've used telenav with great success! The maps are always up to date, and it has all the features of high end gps units. Including voice so you don't have to go looking for a little blue dot (google maps) instead of watching the road in an area you don't know.

I just use Google Maps but I admit AT&T Navigator is a great app. Just not worth my $120 a year though.
Agreed. If I used GPS more, it would be worth it.
Does anything provide turn by turn directions for free? It doesn't have to have voice navigation or anything.
Amaze and Nav4All both do.
I was using it a lot, great app! I decided to save myself some cash and just purchase a Garmin unit for the price of a year of att navigator service.

I use Amaze. It has turn by turn, a good free app.
Garmin also offers a free trial. The Garmin is awesome and worth the $ if you'll use it often.

I have Garmin/mobile at a ONE TIME COST of $99.99. I can listen to Pandora or Slacker on my car stereo and load Garmin /mobile and still listen to Pandora or Slacker and directions can be heard above the music. In addition, if I receive a phone call the GPS and Radio apps are put on hold and I can answer the phone and hear the caller on my car stereo. Hard to beat these features. Note-I had a stand-alone Garmin for years and this mobile Garmin beats the stand-alone with all the features(i,e,.Traffic advisories, pedestrian mode, etc.) that come with it. (Garmin/mobile has a 7day free trial period-try it, you'll like it)
LOVE MY BOLD.
