I am posting this thread in this sub-forum since I believe it will see more traffic than the AT&T sub-forum.
My current contract with AT&T expires in Oct 2009. I upgraded prior to my official upgrade opportunity. I have two questions when my contract expires.
1) Do I retain the upgrade opportunity that I still have?
2) If I decide to renew the contract after it expires, can I still have the same terms of the current contract that is set to expire?
This is good news since I decided to get a Bold before my official upgrade opportunity in July 2009. I had enough AT&T gift certs to get the phone for $30. I did this so that I could get upgrade pricing on the next 3g BB on AT&T which is rumored to be out by the end of the year or possibly 2010 Q1. Even though I have been with AT&T for 15+ years, I did not want to have to wait another 21 months for a full discount upgrade.
1- Most likely not, unless they screwed up (which has happened) your early upgrade consumed your normally scheduled one, putting you back in contract for 2 years from that date.
2- If you're still able to upgrade later, depending on your old plan, it is possible. Sometimes if the plan is very old you will be required to change.
