Silly question but is it bound to att phones or jst like other official releases u jst delete vendor and install it normally.I live outside the us
It is bound to AT&T devices by the Vendor file.
So yep, remove that and then you can load on 9900's from other carriers.
See Upgrade Guide in Post #6 on Page 1.

First off, welcome to CrackBerry!
As soon as you're able, please update your profile to include your device, carrier, and location. This helps others assist you.
I assume you mean your BB 9900, not 9000...
It's a little early for feedback, but I'd wager RIM produced this at AT&T's request to remedy the known issues you mention.

Thanks Elite1, yes sorry i wrote wrong BB9900(I update my profile) i edit the post. Now i go to install the new version from AT&T, and i can comment u later about it.
i have the current version that i can get on my Mac (older Mac) ...
i wonder if i can go to an AT&T store to have them update it there??
I'm not familiar enough with neither Mac's nor AT&T to answer that one specifically.
I can tell you that if you have a virtual Windows environment / partitioned hard drive, you can install same as PC users.
Maybe someone else will have a better answer on this one, sorry.

Someone else mentioned above that they're updating via OTA, so looks like that works if you're on AT&T.
Typically OTA update availability is rolled out gradually by a carrier. Be patient and it should show as available sometime soon. Don't click it every 3 minutes though! "Soon" might mean tomorrow...
If I'm using a Rogers Bold 9900 on AT&T, do I have to delete the vendor file or no? I'm not sure how the updates work considering my last BB was from AT&T

Yes you do.
It's not that big of a thread yet, and there a few posts that answer that already.

On ATT you should be good to go. Other carriers are not going to work without vendor delete.
All you posting about the download mirrors and such, why not just plug your phone into DM and let it upgrade itself (assuming you're on AT&T). This isn't even the latest build out there, is it?
Well after suffering through about 6 OS installs and subsequent uninstalls due to the stupid a s s ATT mic issue I've downloaded and installed this new one (so now we're on 7th install....) I will laugh if AT&T's own version produces the mic issue...so far I've used it all day and no mic problem. I'll post an update in another couple of days
I did the OS 7.1 download from DM and all went smoothly...I'm not having any issues that I can detect. I'm just happy that AT&T finally released it. Better late than never I suppose.
I'm curious about this, too. Who installed the true and full AT&T version and can attest to if all the functionality exists?
I personally have extensive experience with the AT&T mic problem. I own an ATT Bold 9900 and I have been unable to maintain any newly updated OS since 7.1.0.391 without experiencing this problem. As a matter of fact it is because of this problem alone that I've been stuck on .391. I've tried .402, .437, 523, 569 and all have produced the problem with the mic. So far since upgrading to .694 I've not had any mic issue...but let's see what happens tomorrow

Yes this is the latest build currently. 658 was highest before this release today.
Using DM doesn't allow you to shrink the OS. Many users value the extra space freed up by shrinking.
Couple other reasons too, but to me that's the biggie.

Same here on both 9810 and 9900. So far .694 seems to be working fine. No mic issue yet. We shall see...

Bummer. I made it to .437 and haven't been able to go higher without having the mic issue. Looking forward to trying this one though
I am running stable Rogers 391 after downgrading from higher releases with mic issues. Other than this being official AT&T release, and with no change log, I see little incentive to upgrade: maybe after 10 people report no issues after several days of use, I might reconsider. Also, this version allows edits of word substitution, the higher versions did not
