i bought this used curve 8520 on april and i kinda hate it now since its small, and kinda slow now, and the battery life sucks. my plan was to switch to bold 9000 cause i really like the size of it but they said that phone has some issues. i dont want the touch screen ones so i cant go for the 9900. The closest is this bold 9650 cause its a a little bigger. But compared to my old phone, would it be better?

Bold 9650 is a CDMA model for carriers like Sprint or Verizon. The GSM/HSPA equivalent would be Bold 9780, which has a better processor than anything in 96xx series.

But I'd tell you to go for the Bold 9900. You can use completely without using the touchscreen, just the trackpad & keyboard, if you like. That way you get its much nicer 640x480 screen and amazing keyboard. Honestly it's nice to tap some selections onscreen, but you don't have to.

Another option would be the Curve 9360, which actually has same 480x360 screen as Bold 9650, 9700, or 9780, but is newer than them.
Bold 9790 has slightly higher specs, but is a 480x360 touchscreen.

If you were to move up to a new Q5 or Q10, then you would absolutely be using the touchscreen.

The other reason i dont want the touchscreen cause theyre much expensive here.
I did a quick search and CDMA doesnt support sim cards? Or am i wrong?

OP, what will be your primary use for the phone? We can make a better recommendation based on your usage.
