Just curious and please excuse my ignorance. This is my first blackberry upgrade and wanted to get the proper way to transfer everything from my old 9650 to 9930. I have my 9650 backed up to bb desktop already and everything is up to date. Is there a way for me to move everything properly so that my old phone will not have access to email/bbm etc?

    Thanks for your help.

it's pretty simple. Connect your new blackberry to DM (bb desktop) and look for the restore tab. Select the latest backup from your 9650 and hit restore. You'll have everything you had on your 9650.

In brief, use Desktop Manager to backup your 9650 data, then restore this data to your 9930 (all except for apps).

Use the latest Desktop Mgr before starting the above.....the CD that would ship with the 9930.

DM has the "Switch Devices" feature too, basically you plug in your old phone and it is backed up, then it asks you to connect the new device and it puts everything on there and lets you know what is not compatible. very easy

I'd skip the device switch wizard and just restore the 9650 backup to the 9930. I recall seeing a thread where DSW hosed the 9930.
