Did everybody who owns the Bold really pay $400 for it?!?
I mean, I know there are ballers out there who can (and are WILLING TO) swing that, but I didn't figure the general public would be so willing to shell out so much for a cell phone, no matter how awesome it is (and it IS awesome!).
So, I'm upgrade eligible in October, I have until then to figure out how to get a bold for what I consider a reasonable price ($150-250). What am I doing wrong???

With the future release of the Onyx & newer models, I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T offered the Bold for $99. I'm sure you'll get a good deal by then.
I appreciate the good news, so please forgive my eagerness in saying I'd rather not have to wait.
I understand, you pay to play, and I would be willing to pay the $75 early upgrade fee in order to have a Bold today, but I can't justify a $425 phone ($400 phone + $75 early upgrade - $100 rebate) unless I win the lottery.
Are there no consistently less expensive ways to land a Bold (consistently meaning not having to wait on a special offer) for a decent price?
Don't feel bad, I spent 3 hours trying to get my LED to work yesterday (5 batt pulls, deleted and reinstalled BerryBuzz, checked ALL my settings) only to post here and have someone ask if I was in Bedside Mode... <facepalm>
Got the Bold(refurbished) for $0 about 2 weeks ago from the AT&T Premier web site. Its as good as new. Decided to go the refurbished route since I was purchasing it as a back up for my Storm.

Check Letstalk.com or Wirefly.com for deals. I just paid $1.00 for the Curve 8900 (that's correct, I wrote $1.00). I did this as an upgrade through At&t.
The phone is new, not refurb.
I paid 330 euros, so like 420 dollars. I am NOT looking back nor regretting I Love the bold. I never sign contracts :P I hate being obligated to comply haha. I haven't purchased a contracted phone since I was 15 and I got my first cell phone, motorola startac.
It really depends. I like to change phones every 5-6 months max, and I can't do that on contract .
But the blackberry bold is WELL WORTH the money. I can't wait for the storm 2, the storm one was great. If the storm 2 can accept pushing the buttons down better than the storm 1 (meaning type faster) then I'm on board Until then, BOLD
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you get service for a phone without a contract with a carrier?
My phone is paid for by my employer, but I have to pay for whatever phone I want if I don't want the freebie flip POS they offer. They'll pay the data plans and unlimited texts even, I just have to pay for the phone. I STILL can't justify ~$400 for it though.
