Sporadic Overheating

Every so often, my AT&T 9900 randomly gets very hot and the battery drains rapidly- the drain rate goes up to about 15%/hr on standby. I have previously tried a full wipe to no avail, and BBDA does not tell me anything, the number of modules stay around 75 constantly, so I can't tell if an app is causing this.

A battery pull does not alleviate the problem, the phone just heats up and cools off with no warning or anything. Not sure what the problem is, any one else experiencing a similar problem?
