After some research everywhere and some self diagnosing, I found the solution to the problem many experience where their blackberry is lagging in texts and where the alt button needs to be depressed for trackpad to work in all screens. The issue stems from having dropped ur phone and the convenience key being jammed or stuck. Just unjam the side convenience key and it works like normal again, hope this helps!

Yes, thats usually the culprit. Several posts have recommended pressing the side convenience key hard and releasing. If that doesn't work, try the volume keys.
